About STLislam

STLislam was formed to create a "World Wide Web" presence for St. Louis metropolitan region Islamic organizations. Many local organizations (including Masajids) have considered developing a website. The expenses involved and the technical expertise required have prevented the majority from following through. In addition, the web traffic generated by a single local organization's website may not justify the trouble and expense of developing and maintaining a feature-rich, comprehensively designed website. Considering these issues, STLislam was formed to address the local community's need for a frequently updated, low-cost, multi-organizational but united presence on the Internet.

The website was created for purposes of informing the local community of relevant local events and information. On occasion, events outside of the local metropolitan region may be posted or promoted. We avoid addressing issues, which are primarily of a national or international nature. There are a number of Islamic organizations dedicated to issues at these levels. We are not in the business of condemning other organizations, individuals, or nations for their activities. In these matters, we accept the leadership and judgments of the Council of American-Islamic Relations, Islamic Society of North America, and other reputable national Muslim/Islamic organizations, which represent a large percentage of the Muslim population. We do not claim to represent or speak for the entire local Muslim community although we aim towards inclusion.

STLislam is a non-profit organization, which has no paid staff. Local Muslims have donated all of the technical expertise, administrative work, and money for expenses. Expenses including web hosting fees will Inshallah (God willing) be covered in the future by advertising on the website. We encourage people to sign up for the email newsletters and support our future advertisers

By consolidating efforts locally, we aim to save participating organizations significant expense, effort, and time. At the same time, we hope to contribute toward a greater understanding, interaction, and unity amongst ourselves. STLislam will Inshallah provide the information technology infrastructure to achieve these goals. Ultimately, it is the sole responsibility of each organization to update its sections on the website with accurate, complete information and to inform its membership in a timely manner regarding events and news of interest. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of organizations on this website to interact with one another in a coordinated, united manner to efficiently use donated volunteer time and financial resources to the benefit of all. It is our hope and prayer that Allah (God) make us successful in achieving these goals.
